Hello again fellow garden enthusiasts!

There's a special kind of joy, isn't there, in stumbling across plants that just seem to sing out to you? That's certainly how I feel when I'm wandering through the vibrant avenues of plants here at Barnes Nurseries. Every week brings new delights and this week is no exception. I’ve spotted a couple of absolute crackers that I just had to share with you, plants that I know will bring so much cheer and character to your gardens. So, grab a cuppa and let me tell you what’s caught my eye this week!

Every now and then at Barnes Nurseries, we highlight the plants that have truly caught our eye — varieties that shine in the nursery and are sure to bring joy, beauty, and pollinator power to your garden. This week, we’re excited to share two absolute standouts: the delightfully quirky Allium ‘Curly Mauve’ and the deeply dramatic Geranium maculatum ‘Stormy Night’.

We thought we would use the first entry on our blog to tell you a little bit about us.

WE. LOVE. PLANTS. That’s the main thing you need to know! We aren’t your bog-standard garden centre that sells the same old perennials, we are a small family run business with a passion for discovering new varieties and seeing them grow!

Jan and I (Yvonne) get the amazing job of choosing our perennials each year and its definitely our favourite time! When the catalogues start to arrive through the post it’s a race to see who can open them first.
